At SparkNano, we are developing the next generation of advanced spatial atomic layer deposition equipment for the battery, green hydrogen, and other energy as well FMCG packing applications. Our technology combines precision engineering, advanced process development, and intelligent software to create world-class manufacturing systems.
As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Principal Software Engineer to define and develop the software behind our machines while driving the technical direction of our software systems. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will combine software development with system architecture, supplier coordination, and technology scouting.
Your role
You will be responsible for the architecture, development, and continuous improvement of the software that controls our advanced manufacturing equipment. Working closely with our multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will ensure seamless integration between software, hardware, and process technology.
You will also act as the technical counterpart for external software and hardware suppliers, helping SparkNano build long-term partnerships and identify new technologies that strengthen our products.
What You’ll Do
- Define and maintain the software architecture for SparkNano’s machine platform.
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software for advanced manufacturing equipment.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, process, and systems engineers to create integrated machine solutions.
- Coordinate technical activities with external software and hardware partners.
- Drive software integration across internal developments and third-party systems.
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies, tools, and suppliers that improve our products and development processes.
- Support machine commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Help establish software development standards, best practices, and long-term technical strategy.
- Travel occasionally to suppliers, technology partners, and customer sites.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience developing software for complex machines, industrial automation, robotics, or high-tech equipment.
- Experience defining software architecture for multidisciplinary systems.
- Strong understanding of software-hardware integration.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with both internal teams and external partners.
- A proactive mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
- Willingness to travel occasionally, both within Europe and internationally.
Nice to Have
- Experience with industrial automation, motion control, robotics, or machine vision.
- Knowledge of PLCs, industrial communication protocols, and embedded systems.
- Experience working in a fast-paced deep-tech environment.
