Join SparkNano at the world’s first dedicated perovskite solar technology event!

SparkNano is excited to exhibit and speak at Perovskite Connect, taking place 22–23 October 2025 at the Estrel Convention Center in Berlin, co-located with The Future of Electronics RESHAPED. Perovskite solar cells are shaping the next frontier in photovoltaics, delivering high efficiency, low production costs, and flexible form factors. Their ultra-thin design allows seamless integration on surfaces like glass, foil, and even existing solar panels, enabling lightweight and innovative solar modules. While their potential is immense, challenges remain, particularly in long-term stability and efficiency. Visit SparkNano at booth #P04 and attend Alexander Bouman’s talk to discover how SparkNano’s Omega™, Roll-to-Roll spatial ALD system enables ultrafast, precise, and scalable deposition of critical functional layers, ensuring uniformity, speed, and scalability to bring this promising technology to high-volume production.

Advancing perovskite solar cell manufacturing with spatial ALD

SparkNano’s spatial Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) technology addresses the key barriers to commercial perovskite solar cell production:

Abstract

A key challenge in scaling perovskite solar cells (PSCs) lies in the high-throughput and uniform deposition of thin films such as SnO₂ electron transport layers on flexible substrates. Conventional ALD provides excellent film quality but suffers from low throughput due to slow pump–purge cycles and limited area. Spatial ALD overcomes this by separating precursor exposures, enabling deposition rates over two orders of magnitude faster in combination with a roll-to-roll format. With web speeds support up to 100 m/min, substrate widths up to 1.5 m, and deposition temperatures between 50–150 °C for flexible polymer and metal foils, the key challenge can be resolved. This presentation will introduce the fundamentals of spatial ALD and illustrate how the roll-to-roll implementation enables translation from laboratory-scale film optimization to gigawatt-scale PSC manufacturing, with emphasis on scalable SnO₂ deposition and how the SparkNano Omega system addresses the throughput, uniformity, and substrate compatibility requirements critical for industrialization.

Igniting Clean Energy Manufacturing, Today
SparkNano is driving the next frontier in clean energy production with the launch of the SparkNano Omega™, the world’s first high-speed Roll-to-Roll spatial ALD system. Designed for industrial-scale manufacturing of next-generation products, the Omega™ delivers unmatched atomic precision, high-speed coating, and scalable processing for flexible foils used in lithium-ion batteries, perovskite solar cells, and more. Operating at atmospheric pressure with widths up to 1.5 m and speeds up to 100 m/min, it enables continuous, efficient production, bridging lab-scale innovations to high-volume deployment and accelerating the energy transition.
